Just a trace…

26th January 2020

We’ve only had a trace of wet new snow above 950 metres. However the freezing level is lowering and it is currently minus two degrees centigrade at 930 metres. We have a modest amount of snow forecast tomorrow but with the freezing level at around 450 metres the deposits are going to be cold and dry and will drift easily in the strong winds. We’re not expecting any signifiant accumulations but there will be localised deposits that will be poorly bonded on steeper terrain. It only takes a small slab to knock you off your feet on steep ground. Wet conditions on the hill so limited photo opportunities today.
