Getting milder….

19th January 2020

It was very chilly in the wind today but there was some amazing light after the early morning cloud lifted a little. The snow is firm and well bonded and there is quite a bit of water-ice underfoot. High pressure stays with us for a little longer giving dry conditions but the wind will still be strong and the freezing level is rising. The air temperature will just rise up into positive figures at Munro level tomorrow so there will be some slight softening of the surface layers.

Small cornice debris in Coire Fionn with loose particles drifting in the strong wind.

“If I stay very, very still – maybe they won’t see me”

This wee guy isn’t sure what colour he is supposed to be at the moment…
