Fun Friday…

16th February 2018

Finally the weather eased back a little and allowed everyone to get out there and enjoy the fresh snow. It’s always great to see so many people in the area having a good time. A cold wind chill and cloud above 800 metres at times this morning but a good deal of blue sky and sunshine as well.

The recent snow is showing signs of consolidating with stability improving but we have been forecast some snowfall tonight – It is coming in from the West so it will be interesting to see if we actually get the amount forecast – With a showery airflow it is often difficult to predict how much precipitation will fall and exactly where it will fall. Fresh windslab will develop in the strong winds if it does arrive in the volume as forecast.

Lochnagar in the early morning light. Just hanging onto its summit cloak of cloud.

Looking south along the A93 towards Spittal of Glenshee

Snowy Sgor Mor (887m) & Coire Chrid. Deep drifts even at lower altitudes – this one is sub 500m.

Somebody is happy to see more snow in the area – everything including the piste signs are covered in it!

Bonus! Dropping out of the cloud to find yourself on a perfectly groomed piste..

Great to see Glenshee Ski Centre full of skiers – some fantastic snow out there…

Both The Tiger and The Thunder Bowl getting serious attention.
