Windy and cold!

11th February 2018

It was a sunny but very cold and windy day. Lots of snow has been moving around the hillside making it hard work walking far. Ski’s still the way to go!

Mountain Hares hunkering down out the winds. It was cold today!

Traversing above Corrie Dhirich. Plenty snow blowing into the Corrie.

View over to the Meall Odhar tow and beyond.

Lots of weakly bonded surface layers today. Weaker layers persist deeper in the snowpack.

Braemar Mountain Rescue Team created an avalanche for training purposes today. Teams from all over Scotland were attending an avalanche training weekend.

Teams probing for a casualty, in this case a buried dummy.

A find! Digging teams moving in to help free the casualty.

A Doctor, on the right watches the candidates extraction and medical procedures.
