Shades of Grey…

21st January 2018

It felt very grey today after yesterday’s brilliant blue sky. It was bitterly cold in the moderate wind with the cloud lowering during the late morning as the band of snow showers approached.

Although the showers haven’t been as heavy or persistent as expected, the existing cold dry snow has been drifting constantly all day at altitude.

There will be a gradual rise in the freezing level tomorrow but it won’t go over the highest summits in the area, so although we may lose some snow at lower elevations there shouldn’t be too much loss higher up.
