Much milder!

22nd January 2018

There was a slow and steady thaw over the area today. Freezing level was around 900 metres with very light snowfall above this level. Visibility was also generally poor at higher levels, didn’t see a lot today!

Unfortunately continuing milder tomorrow, hopefully will turn colder after that?

Most of the lower superficial cover has already melted.

There is a significant very soft layer within the snowpack, top marked by the saw.

The snow fence has become a solid wall of thick ice.

A few keen ski tourers around today!
