Getting cooler…

26th February 2017

We didn’t quite get the freezing level we were expecting last night but it is due to get colder in the next 24 hour period. There is some light snowfall expected overnight but due to the showery nature of the band of precipitation there is some uncertainty over the exact amounts and timing of the snowfall.

If the freezing level lowers to the 400-500 metre level as forecast, expect the old snow to become very firm and icy.

I spent most of the day stuck up in the wet clouds so photo opportunities were sparse, and there’s only so many shots of patchy snow cover I can inflict on you! Apparently the meteorological spring begins next week….Don’t really feel like I’ve had Winter yet!

Enough melt water coming off the hills to keep the Falls of Garbh Allt looking impressive
