New snow and the last post….

16th April 2016

Someone forgot to tell the weather it’s our last day forecasting today! Snow showers were down to the valley and strong winds on the hills were moving snow around.

Still winter above 900 metres.

It is definitely still winter on the hills and full winter kit is recommended. I was surprised to meet a walker on his way to a Munro today wearing wellington boots! He had an ice axe and was wearing good gear, perhaps he had some crampons to go on his wellies?

Windy and snowy on the tops.

High wind chill and poor visibility at times.

Another snow shower coming our way!

Well that’s it for another season! Thanks for all the ‘on hill chats’ , comments and support, SAIS Southern Cairngorms will be back in December. Meanwhile Northern Cairngorms will be issuing reports at least for this week. If venturing into the main Cairngorms, worth checking out.
