Weekend options

15th February 2008

No real changes to tell you about.

If you want some ideas for the weekend based on peoples trips out this week –
Both Lochnagar and the corries in Beinn a Bhuird have some easier gullies to go at. The buttresses have very little on them.
Any rock in the sun is dry and free of verglass, you might need crampons to reach the start of them though.
Tracks are free of snow, you might encounter the odd patch of ice.
The mountain running and walking is superb, all the bogs are frozen and the patchy snow is good to run on. If you are in trainers on the higher hills some care will be required on steeper icy snow.
If you want to ski, Glenshee has a couple of runs open. You can carry into Cairn of Claise, Carn an Tuirc and Glas Maol where there are a number of skin up, ski down options.

Had a jog up Carn Bhac today.

Looking over to Beinn A’Ghlo
Looking back to Larig Ghru
