Another blue sky day!

19th February 2008

The view SW from summit of Glas Maol

Cairn Toul, Braeriach and Ben Macduinotice the larger snowy areas on these higher hills

Well it was another cracking day on the hill. The old snow is very firm on all aspects at present and the runouts aren’t very forgiving…crampons still needed at times!

As the high pressure declines a weak cold front will move across the area with just a trace of new snow forecast for tomorrow morning – amounts are expected to be minimal. It will be windier than today with 35mph SW winds forecast and a 900 metre freezing level. So it will feel a lot cooler – I’m going to have to finally put my pertex top away and dig out something a bit heavier! It might have felt like Spring this last week but I think that before long we will be reminded that it is still only February…
