Good snow!

20th February 2007

After the overnight thaw, coolish weather led to a nice firm, but not too icy snow surface. Some excellent ski-ing was reported and many snowcraft parties had favourable conditions, although runouts are still limited. You may not see from the image, but NE-facing cornices still exist in Lochain, in places like Y Gully and Nameless Corrie. Glenmore Lodge snowhole parties reported lots of rollerball and sluffing activity in Sneachda during the night, although it had stabilised by morning. Funnily enough, this is exactly what the avalanche forecast predicted!
